2021 was crazy!
Crazy busy… crazy good!
And after such an epic year and no time to blog during the chaos, I’ve got some unreal love stories to share with you… which also means, we’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
So, today we are revisiting the wedding day of Mike and Kate and their country wedding on the family farm.
Let me tell you about these kids from the bush…
It took a social media platform with 1.3 billion users and a comment of just four little words for this love story to begin… “I like your tractor”. Who ever would have thought this simple little gesture would bring these country kids from opposite ends of Australia together… but that’s exactly what it did.
This romance began with a love of tractors, but more specifically… red tractors, and farming life.
Mike was living and working the family farm in rural South Australia and Kate was busy studying and getting her hands dirty every other day, here in Rockhampton on the family’s sweet potato farm. This little comment Kate left on Mike’s Instagram profile would change their lives.
A leap of faith to meet would seal their fate. This then lead to months of travelling to and from until Mike decided it was time to make the move to our sunny state of Queensland to pursue what would become the sweetest journey of all.
Now living and working here in Rockhampton, digging potatoes and farming sweet potato genetics … I know… I didn’t know this was a thing either… this hardworking, ambitious and dedicated duo are creating quite a life for themselves.
These young lovers brought families from far and wide together for a beautifully intimate ceremony on the farm they work so hard for.
Mike waited patiently under the arbor he made himself while Kate fought back the tears, fluffed her incredible gown and prepared for the most anticipated walk of her life. On the arm of her Dad they made their way down the long stretch of petal covered grass.
The very fun and vibrant Rockhampton Marriage Celebrant, Roxanne Hodda married Mike and Kate on the very special day of 23rd October. After the quick promises, confetti canons fired and showered the couple in an array of colours.
We finished the day climbing tractors, of course, and exploring the corners of the Sweet Potato farm on the outskirts of Rockhampton.
This wedding was full of love, colour and beautiful people.
It was an incredible privilege to be Mike and Kate’s Wedding Photographer and a huge honor to be able to document such a story.
